There are many styles of Christian worship in the world today. This course provides an introduction to the rites and practices of non-Roman western Christian traditions, Protestant groups, and to the liturgy as celebrated by eastern Christian communities, both Catholic and Orthodox. Learn about the origin and historical development of these traditions and the distinctive theological themes within these rites.

The Very Reverend Thomas A. Baima is a bi-ritual priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Provost of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake. A full professor of dogmatic theology, Father Baima teaches in the areas of ecclesiology, ecumenism, interreligious dialogue and mission. His second specialty is in church and nonprofit management and organizational studies.

He is the author, co-author or editor of seven books, including Forming the Church in the Modern World: The Theological Contribution of Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., What is a Parish? Canonical, Pastoral and Theological Perspectives, and Understanding Four Views on the Lord’s Supper.
